Tip Top Meat was established in 1986, starting out as Lusa Butchery run by Antonio Dos Ramos and Fernando Barbosa. (Lusa Butchery was founded in 1979) and was dedicated exclusively to the marketing of fresh meat. It was not long however, before Antonio Dos Ramos realized that there was a great potential for the marketing of further processed meat products.
The operation started off in a small way with sausages being linked by hand, but soon grew because of the quality of the end product. Within months the purchase of larger equipment and premises was inevitable. A few years after Tip Top Meats was established in 1989, Luis Ramos was appointed as the third member. Members now stand at five, with Maria Dos Ramos, Fernando Barbosa, Luis Ramos, Gina Milho and Jose Milho.
This growth has continued throughout our short existence, with new machinery being purchased as soon as the volumes justified it. Our daily production had grown to such an extent that the premises we were in, could not cope with the volume that was being manufactured and produced, and it became evident to us that this trend was set to continue.
At this stage and point in time it was realized that upgraded premises would be needed, especially to comply with the current trends and technology (of this day and age we live in). The implications were such that management decided to build our own facility, and the construction of a new three story building was implemented. Furthermore we have bought premises next to our newly built facility in order to relieve storage space and other functions in our new building.
Tip-Top meat complies with current requirements for the export of beef, mutton, pork and poultry meat and meat products to all African countries.
We have a great factory shop at our premises that is open to the public Monday to Saturday. Every weekend we have huge savings for our customers with Weekend Specials. Wednesdays are Pensioners day where you can get up to 10% off. We have lovely Hampers and much more.
